Telkom South Africa Ltd

Synopsis

Listed on the JSE Securities exchange and New York stock exchange, Telkom South Africa is South Africa’s second largest listed public company. Controlled by the government with strategic partners Elephant Communications, a black empowerment group, Telkom is the South Africa’s fixed-line incumbent. It also owns 50% of South Africa’s leading mobile operator, Vodacom. In December 2003, a SNO was granted a licence and is expected to begin operations in 2005. Telkom SA provides business and residential fixed-line telephony, Internet, e-commerce, data communications, satellite and broadcasting services.
