Synopsis
Telia AB, originally the Swedish incumbent operator Televerket, was the major telecommunications operator in Sweden and the Nordic region. It owned and operated most of Sweden’s fixed infrastructure. Its operations were concentrated in the Nordic countries and the Baltics, although they extended to thirty different nations. Its four core businesses were Mobile communications, Broadband and Internet, Fixed networks and International carrier operations. In March 2002, it announced plans to merge with Sonera.
