Synopsis

Teleglobe is a global communications and e-business group of companies providing a broad range of international and domestic communication services including voice, Internet connectivity, high-speed data transmission, broadband, broadcast and other value-added services on a wholesale and retail basis. It has a multi-gigabit capacity backbone, and maintains extensive public and private peering arrangements throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Following severe cash flow problems, with its parent BCE stopping long term funding, the company filed for Chapter 11 protection in the US in 2002 and, in September 2002, agreed to sell its core businesses to Cerberus Capital Management. This report covers the activities of the company until 2004. Activities after that are covered in separate report Canada – Major Telcos – Overview and Statistics.
