Synopsis

This report discusses two very high speed data communication technologies with ranges up to 10 metres: WiMedia Ultra-Wideband in the 3.1 to 10.6GHz range, and several approaches to millimetre wave communications at 60GHz, including the work of the WirelessHD Consortium, ECMA TC48 and IEEE Task Group 802.15.3c and Working Group 802.11. These technologies promise to revolutionise high-speed communications between mobile devices and home A/V devices.
