Synopsis

We discuss the Unlicensed Wireless Access (UWA) Bluetooth and WiFi approach to Fixed-Mobile Convergence and the new GAN (Generic Access Network) standard for implementing this. We also discuss the various types of base-station, including micro-, pico- and femto-nodes, also known as home base-stations, which extend native cellular access to homes and offices, using DSL etc. for backhaul.
