Slovakia - Mobile Market Insights, Statistics and Forecasts

Synopsis

Slovakia’s mobile market, serviced by three mobile network operators having pan-European reach, has relatively high penetration levels resulting from multiple SIM card ownership. The introduction of mobile number portability has increased competition between players which have focused on improving ARPU levels by encouraging existing prepaid users to migrate to postpaid plans, as well as by offering mobile broadband access and content services. These are becoming increasingly popular among consumers in the wake of deployments of 3G/HSPA and LTE networks. This report offers insight into Slovakia’s mobile market, providing a variety of statistics as well as profiles of mobile network operators. It also covers regulatory issues and market developments.

Key developments:

MNOs trial LTE in the 2.6GHz band; revenue slides in wake of regulatory measures and falling number of contract customers; regulator to coordinate auction additional spectrum in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands in early 2013; regulator called to account for high mobile licence extension fees, imposes MTRs based on new pricing model; Orange upgrades base stations for HSPA+ and successfully tests a 42Mb/s service; regulator’s market data to June 2012; telcos’ operating data to December 2012; market developments to February 2013.

Companies covered in this report include:

T-Mobile Slovakia, Orange Slovakia, Telefónica O2.
