Synopsis

Shin Corp is a broad-based telecommunications conglomerate run by the influential Shinawatra family. In 1990’s it was awarded a number of concessions from TOT and other government agencies to provide satellite, mobile, paging, data communications, telephone directories, Internet services, TV broadcasting, and fixed-line and wireless operations in Cambodia and Laos. Shin Corp is listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, as are its three main subsidiaries, Advanced Info Services, the dominant mobile operator, Shin Satellite, the sole satellite operator and ITV the dominant news TV broadcaster. It has a portfolio of over 25 subsidiary, associate and joint venture telecommunications companies.
