Synopsis

Orascom Telecom Holding is listed on the Egyptian and London Stock Exchanges, and controlled by the Sawiris family, founders of the Orascom Group, a major private conglomerate in Egypt. Orascom is one of the largest mobile telecom operators in the Middle East and Africa with GSM mobile networks in Algeria, Bangladesh, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe. Since 2002, Orascom has sold off GSM operations in fifteen countries, in order to reduce debt and focus on high growth countries. Orascom also provides Internet, satellite and telecom support services.
