Synopsis
Nextgen Networks Pty Limited is a telecommunications carrier which specialises in data services for carriers, service providers, government and corporations. Nextgen owns and operates one of Australia’s largest national fibre network of over 19,000km, fibre rings and Data Centre assets in all capital cities, and an extensive national Virtual Private LAN Service Switched Data Network. The fibre network runs between the country’s principal capital cities of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin and has links to nodes in around 70 regional cities and centres. In 2006 Nextgen launched Australia’s first national Virtual Private LAN Service, which was the first step in moving the company from the initial business plan of focussing on high capacity wholesale to becoming a full data service provider to the broader Australian marketIn 2009 the company was awarded a contract to roll out the NBN blackspot program for the Department of Broadband. The following year the first section of that network was completed with further work underway in 2011.
