Synopsis
Archived report. This report was archived in 2008 and has not been updated since. The moves towards converging data and voice have found that ATM switching is inadequate for today’s networks, and has been replaced with NGN IP and MPLS technology that allows users to develop much more innovative products and services. This increased flexibility has already allowed the development of such services as data centres and MASPs and other forms of computer outsourcing. This report describes other developments including where IP might take us next.
