Synopsis
Archived report. This report was archived in 2008 and has not been updated since. VoIP is now becoming more prominent in corporate and government markets, because of the proficient Next Generation (NGN) corporate networks. In the residential market it has mostly been a niche market, a ‘hobby’ product linked to the Internet - but 2006 saw residential subscribers increase significantly. However the real breakthrough for VoIP will be when NGN quality broadband networks are delivering triple play business models which include VoIP to the mass market. Wireless VoIP could also challenge 3G towards the end of the decade. This report provides analysis of VoIP. Statistics and an overview of the industry are available from separate reports.
