Global - Utilities Broadband - Multi-utility Market

Synopsis

Archived report. This report was archived in 2008. Utilities around the world are faced with a dire need for increased communications. Exploding electricity usage requires better networks and the utilities are in the spotlight after some spectacular electricity outages. Security issues are further stimulating new developments. All new infrastructure developments now include the development of fibre optic networks that are built at an incremental cost. This puts utilities in an ideal position to become involved in multi-utility broadband infrastructure competition. Paul Budde is actively involved in exploring opportunities in this market through a cooperative model (UtiliTel) aimed at creating smart IP based grids. Developments are also known as Utilities Broadband or Broadband Utilities.
