Synopsis

Archived report. This report was archived in 2005 and has not been updated. The incidence of cybercrime in its many forms has been rising alarmingly in recent years. These forms range from petty misdemeanours through to major crime. Paedophiles and pornographers are in the ‘most wanted’ categories, but it appears that the Internet offers the criminal mind a huge variety of potential money-making opportunities. Hacking persists, along with Internet piracy. Credit card theft is, of course, an ever-present problem, and this has now been extended to actual identity theft. Identity theft, together with other major forms of cybercrime, Viruses and Spyware, are described elsewhere.
