The inevitable move towards broadband is progressing slowly in most countries due to resistance by the incumbent telcos and the lack of a marketing approach by them. This report describes the background of the information superhighway and its development into broadband. It discusses the present problems being confronted in that development, and possible ways of overcoming them. It also discusses the findings of various surveys relating to consumer needs and expectations.
