Synopsis

Mobile voice services still account for the largest share of mobile revenues, contributing over 70%. The handset market is very competitive and in 2012 some of the smaller handset suppliers are beginning to make a mark in terms of market share as well.

Smart phones continue to be a hot topic for the global mobile industry as sales continue to rise and market share grows to over 25% of overall handset sales.

Touchscreen Tablets have become very popular; with the most widely known being the Apple iPad. In mid 2011 however, the iPad began to feel the impact of the competitive threat from a multitude of tablet devices now on the market and the rising threat of Android.

This report provides overall global statistics and forecasts for mobile smartphones and handsets, including growth, sales and revenue.
