Synopsis
Satellite navigation is a one-way system in which passive receivers pick up radio signals from a network of satellites. This report lists some of the major navigational end uses for satellite systems, including location based services and global positioning including GPS and GLONASS. The markets for LBS and GPS have become stronger as mobile operators seek new revenues streams by customising services based upon a user’s location. Car navigation systems are also increasing in popularity, particularly in Europe and the US. This report provides an overview of navigational satellite systems, along with a description and information on LBS and global positioning services.
