Synopsis

Archived report. This report was archived in 2006 and has not been updated. Until 2001, the equipment market was booming. With the industry downturn, the operators became very concerned with cash flow and capital expenditure was cut drastically, resulting in a major downturn in the installation of fixed networks. Discussed, the original rapid growth, the downward trend and forecasts for international terrestrial fixed cable networks. Details of submarine cable systems are discussed elsewhere.
