Synopsis

Archived report. This report was archived in 2007 and has not been updated. Triple play was the first business model designed to deliver the newly integrated products that are the result of industry changes and convergence. Triple play is where voice, video and data applications are all delivered over one single access subscription. Business model developments such as these will mean many companies will need to be re-constructed before they can realign themselves with the new trends. However, triple play models themselves have so far not lived up to expectations. While there have been some interesting developments in France, Italy and Hong Kong; by and large it has not been the success story that was anticipated. It is the Internet media companies that are now setting the trend and the business models emerging from their stables will become far more important. This report provides an introduction to the triple play/multiple play concept including definitions, potential revenue opportunities for different market segments and information on bandwidth requirements. The report also includes a look at how triple play is developing around the world and BuddeComm’s critical analyses of how successful it will actually be.
