Global - Broadband - Telecities (archived)

Synopsis

Most governments have been slow to establish adequate infrastructure for today’s broadband needs. In response, several cities have started to establish this infrastructure themselves, and several models to achieve this have started to emerge. This report describes the problems and the solutions addressed by these models, the Telematica concept, and approaches being used around the world, particularly in Stockholm, Melbourne, Singapore, San Diego and Chicago. Research in this area was discontinued in 2003.
