Global - Broadband - Multimedia in 2001 (Archived)

Synopsis

Multimedia is broadly defined as computer-based integration of different media. It currently finds its primary uses in corporate training, education and entertainment. During the 90s, most home-based PCs had CD-ROMS installed to use these services offline. However, the advent of the Internet allowed a growing use of online multimedia services. Other online applications, such as VoD, have been slow to catch on, but the gradual development of broadband will overcome many of their problems. This report describes developments in both online and offline multimedia products.
