Europe - Telecommunications - Fixed Network Voice Services

Synopsis

Fixed voice revenues are still the mainstay for incumbent telcos in Europe, although the market is declining in value as competition intensifies and growth in the telecommunications market shifts to other sectors such as mobile and broadband. This report overviews the deregulation of the fixed network voice services market in Europe, together with market trends and statistics. Individual sectors, such as the local and long distance call markets, are addressed at the European level, as well as some of the value-added services that have developed. The impact on the market of alternative technologies such as VoIP is also discussed.
