Europe - Mobile Communications - Mobile Data - i-mode, Applications and M-commerce

Synopsis

Archived report: this report was archived on 19 October 2005 and has not been updated. Europe has served as a laboratory for wireless services. The popularity of mobile phones affects every market, and induced the most expensive 3G auctions and beauty contests. A colossal €150 billion was spent on 3G licenses, resulting in a range of wireless data applications to provide a return on investment. Other mobile data technologies, such as SMS, have been in the market for several years. This report provides information and analysis on i-mode and emerging applications such as mobile gaming, location based services and m-commerce up to 2004.
