Synopsis

A business model in the online content industry segments online content providers into two groups: broad content providers and narrow content providers. Broad content providers may bundle access and content, focusing on the widest target audience possible and acting as ‘portals’. Narrow content providers focus on specific topics and often charge for use as specialised content providers. Both broad and narrow content providers engage in a form of e-commerce. This report takes an overall perspective on e-commerce, including data on B2B and B2C segments.
