Synopsis
This is a snapshot report of the most recent market, technological and regulatory developments in Denmark. It is compiled from the far more extensive publication Denmark - Telecoms, IP Networks, Digital Media and Forecasts as also the reports dealing with the telecoms, broadband, mobile and broadcasting sectors in Denmark.
Denmark has a competitive telecom market, and enjoys one of Europe’s highest broadband penetration rates. Its mobile sector has progressed with all four MNOs encouraging consumer uptake of data services on upgraded networks. The fixed-line sector continues to contract, as more people forego fixed phones for VoIP and mobile-only solutions. The telecom market, dominated by three large Nordic operators and their subsidiaries, has consolidated in recent years, with larger international operators purchasing smaller players. The two major cable TV operators are owned by the two largest telcos, while the packaging of services and various price schemes have been introduced in an effort to retain customers.
