Synopsis

Denmark has one of the highest adoption rates for broadband and digital media services in Europe. Cable TV companies, which access about two-thirds of Danish homes, have supplemented traditional pay TV and broadband packages with VoIP, VoD and mobile services. Analogue switch-off was affected in late 2009, allowing for 800GHz spectrum to be allocated for mobile broadband and other services. Additional digital dividend spectrum in the 700MHz band is expected to made available for mobile broadband use, while spectrum in the 1800MHz band formerly used for GSM services was reassigned for LTE and auctioned in mid-2016.
