BT Group plc - UK

Synopsis

Archived report: this report was archived in February 2006 and has not been updated since. British Telecom has undergone considerable changes in recent years, partly through its own initiative and partly in response to regulator pressure. The company’s restructure in 2005 included an operational separation which saw a new unit, BT Openreach, set up in January 2006 to manage its retail business. BT has also developed innovative products and concepts such as BT Fusion. This report provides statistics and a comprehensive analysis of BT’s organisation and performance for the 2005 financial year, as well as an update to December 2005. It also assesses the important structural developments within the company in early 2006, and evaluates the NeXT strategy for an all-IP network. The Group’s international activities are profiled in the separate BT Global Services report.
