Australia - Wholesale - Data Centres

Synopsis

Data centres include telehousing facilities, co-location facilities, and Internet Data Centres (IDCs). Need for the services remains, albeit with a significant delay. First they were hit by the dot com crisis and in 2005 further delays started to occur, which are still continuing as an effect of the downturn in the wholesale market in Australia. In other countries double digit growth occurs. This report overviews the different forms of data centres, the growth of neutral facilities, gives an insight into the size of the general data centre market and the trends in it, as well as the major players in the sector. Of the major players, the role of the telcos is included, and a number of smaller independent providers are profiled.
