Synopsis
The telecommunications hardware manufacturers rose and fell with the demand rise and fall of the 2000 dot com boom and bust. This happened in the USA, Europe, and Australia was also affected. Investments in this sector have never been great in Australia, and the country remains an IT consumer, notwithstanding the power of Telstra, Optus and their brethren. This report introduces the major players here in Australia, and Paul Budde analyses the state of play from the equipment perspective, and how it affects other areas of the telecommunications sector, and what can be done to address the situation.
