Telecom Investment Research Note

Synopsis

As BuddeComm has been predicting for quite some time the Australian telecoms industry will have to transform itself in the wake of the NBN. And with the national network just around the corner members of the industry have heeded this call and are well and truly on the road to making the necessary changes.

The companies most affected will be the current telcos and ISPs; and the first steps they are taking are very conservative, in line with the traditional telecom model.

While there will be room for new telco models on the NBN, this is not where the real opportunities are. This report indicates where the new opportunities lie and what is required to move into these new markets. We cover telcos, ISPs, mobile operators, Internet media and traditional media companies, as well as ICT companies involved in data centres, cloud computing and content hosting – Telstra, Optus, iiNet, Internode, TPG, HP, Macquarie Telecom, NEC and others.
