Australia - FttH Projects and Developments

Synopsis

More and more tele-communities developments are now based on fibre networks. On a larger scale, Bright in Perth was the first major roll out perhaps too early for its time, it was abandoned in 2007. The country’s first large scale FttH roll out will happen in Tasmania as part of the National Broadband Network. It will be built on some previous projects including the TasCOLT FttH project and the Broadband over Power Lines project from Aurora. The most advanced fibre network developments are taking place in R&D and University networks where AARNet is taking an industry leadership role.
