Synopsis

This report overviews the major e-commerce policies and initiatives of the current Government. A comprehensive profile of NOIE, its ambit, and range of publications and projects is presented. These range from Gatekeeper and the ABN-DSC, through government e-procurement and interoperability initiatives, to support for SMEs. A range of other important Federal Government projects are outlined, covering business portals, electronic tendering, grants for innovation, job search and the ATO. This collection of the most important Government projects is current to the first quarter of 2002. June 2002 saw the UN remark on Australia’s e-government services.
