Synopsis

The broadband market is estimated to grow to $70 billion by 2015. Yet the most hotly debated topic in the digital media industry is how to make money. Especially as the telco industry is still complaining about this, the media industry however, has made some quantum leaps. But this has been driven by role models such as Google, Yahoo, YouTube, eBay, Skype and others. Nevertheless the traditional media companies have made great progress also, using their traditional media to launch events and then supplementing them with broadband-based services such as portals, blogs, vpods, chat-rooms, SMS, etc. Attracting people to these events and services involves new advertising models, permission-based marketing and premium sales activities.
