Synopsis
This is now a matured market, with a well defined customer base and business processes that have been finetuned to make it a smooth running and efficient business operation. The collapse of the e-payment company Bill Express has, however, resulted in a serious review of the distribution model. The banks are going to take a more significant role in this process and also retail chains such as Coles are looking at becoming more directly involved in this market. This opens up both new challenges and opportunities for the companies involved in this market. The retail model also allows for new products and new market developments for calling cards, which will be explored further over coming years. In 2008 gotalk has further established itself as the market leader, with the acquisition of World Telecom.
