Synopsis

Next Generation Networks (NGN) are replacements for legacy telephony networks operated by the major telecommunications providers in Australia. Investment in NGN’s enables service providers to offer corporate customers a range of sophisticated voice and data services such as Virtual Private Networks (VPN). Telstra is at the forefront of NGN developments in Australia with a series of projects underway which will transform their network into an all IP environment. Other key players in the market include Optus, Soul, Macquarie Telecom, iiNet, Primus, Internode, TransACT, PowerTel and Nextgen Networks.
