Argentina - Fixed-Line Market and Infrastructure - Overview, Statistics and Forecasts

Synopsis

Compared with the rest of Latin America, Argentina’s telecom infrastructure is relatively modern. Fixed-line teledensity is higher than neighbouring Brazil and Chile – in fact, it is one of the highest in Latin America. Two regional incumbents, Telefónica de Argentina and Telecom Argentina, dominate the local fixed-line market despite liberalisation, but the long distance market is highly competitive and VoIP is well developed. Telecom Argentina is under cross-holding scrutiny since rival operator Telefónica acquired a stake in its parent company Telecom Italia. This report provides an overview of Argentina’s telecom infrastructure, together with profiles of the main fixed network operators, accompanied by relevant statistics, analyses, and scenario forecasts for the years 2015 and 2020.
